I bring a background of extraordinary training and experience to my practice. My knowledge and skill level continue to increase as I attend educational conferences and remain current with professional literature and research. The competencies I have developed as a therapist have proven effective in helping many people make positive changes in their lives.

During the past decade, I have had the opportunity to receive ongoing training from renowned psychologist, Dr. Michael Yapko. Dr. Yapko is the author of 15 books and is the recipient of numerous awards for his contribution to advance the fields of psychotherapy and clinical hypnosis. It is an honor and privilege to have a mentor of Dr. Yapko’s caliber and I am extremely grateful for his influence on my skills as a clinician.

I am also an IFS trained therapist. IFS (Internal Family Systems) is highly effective in the treatment of acute, complex and developmental traumas. Many of the symptoms I see in my practice, including painful emotions, negative beliefs, health issues and difficulties in relationships, can be traced back to traumatic experiences. Symptoms that were once pathologized and labeled as depression, anxiety, compulsive behaviors, etc., are actually parts of ourselves that emerge in effort to protect us from future injury. With IFS, I can help my clients treat these hurting parts and develop a greater sense of self.

I have also had the privilege to work with individuals, families and groups to provide therapeutic support related to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, HIV, AIDS, and other chronic or end of life issues. My experience working with health related issues has helped me develop a more comprehensive and integrative approach to the treatment I provide to my clients.

My professional background also includes the role of lead clinician in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospital settings. I have also mentored and provided clinical supervision to fellow therapists and therapy interns. These experiences have helped me expand my knowledge base to become more proficient in the use of a wide range of counseling approaches

I am also trained in Biblical Counseling to provide Christian based therapy. This is an area of special interest in my practice and the framework from which I draw personal and professional perspective. I help individuals explore and identify their personal belief systems to understand how this might be a significant resource in their own experience.

Apart from everything else, a good rapport between client and psychotherapist is essential for therapy to be effective. I believe the level of personal comfort and ease clients have in my office are key elements to the success of therapy. I make every effort to create a secure and trusting environment for my clients. Working together, we can move your life in the direction you desire.
